In Turkey, this is known as rice pilaf. I'm not sure if they add onion, but it's similar.

In Turkey, this is known as rice pilaf. I'm not sure if they add onion, but it's similar.
Steps

Finely chop the onion. Sauté the onion and vermicelli in the butter and oil until golden brown. Add the water and salt.

Cook over high heat until the liquid is absorbed. Gently stir, cover, and reduce the heat to low.

Let it cook for about 20 minutes, until the rice is tender. Serve hot.
