Aloo chop, muri and tea is part of quintessential Bengali life in Kolkata. It is a simple but delectable snack when made well. A fabulous rainy day snack.

Boil the potatoes and cool and mash. In a kadai add mustard oil and fry onions with ginger paste and green chillies. Add into the potato mash. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, roasted cumin and coriander powder. Add chopped coriander leaves. Add 1 tsp rice flour and mix well. Make flat round balls and keep ready

Take besan flour, add salt, red chilli powder,baking soda and mix well in fry stage. Then gradually add water to make a medium thick batter without any lumps. Dip in the potato balls in the batter.

Once the oil is steaming hot slowly lower the batter dipped potato balls and fry deep both sides till it is brown. Strain on a tissue paper and then serve hot with puffed rice and hot tea. Enjoy as evening snack on a monsoon evening.
