Rinse the dal and soak it in water for 5-6 hours. Drain the water and grind the dal in a blender until you get a very fine paste.

The dal should be ground to a smooth consistency. Add the food coloring and mix well.

Add the all-purpose flour and mix thoroughly.

Transfer the batter to a piping bag or icing cone and cut a small opening at the tip. Heat oil in a pan. Pipe the batter into the hot oil in the shape of imarti and fry until golden.

In a separate pan, combine the sugar and water and bring to a boil. Take a lemon.

Squeeze the lemon juice into the syrup. Add the fried imarti to the hot syrup and let them soak for 1-2 minutes.

Remove the imarti from the syrup and place them on a large strainer to drain excess syrup.

Garnish with edible silver leaf and chopped pistachios. Your delicious imarti is ready to serve.
