(Belgian) stew spice mix

You can find stew spice mix in any store over here. But I find it way to expensive and the main ingredient is salt! Like in any bought spice mix. I make this in a badge good for 5 kg meat

Beef stew Beef stew
I must admit this recipe is really for a beef pie, but the insides where so good, why not just have the insides!! I think it qualifies for stew!! You can cook the first part in a skillet but you do need a Dutch oven to complete it. It is rather fiddly to make but I guarantee you'll be happy with the results. Props to my hubby as well for the photography as usual!! kokomayla -

Beef Stew Beef Stew
It’s funny... I made some chili last week. As I was thinking in my head, “What the hell goes in chili”? I started saying, “Wait, no. This is sounding like a beef stew”. So... I decided to make a beef stew now. It’s cold now and these dishes warm the soul. I never appreciated beef stew when I was younger. But I realize how fine of a dish it is in my older age haha. Karl -
BEEF STEW - OLD RECIPE BEEF STEW - OLD RECIPE
I made this for my parents for dinner 40 plus years ago. They both wanted to know what I used for thickening. It turns out it was the way I cut the potatoes and floured the beef before I browned it. My Dad loved my stew! Needless to say, I've been making stew the same way ever since and never without thinking about my Dad. . . "Good times around the family table". sandra53 -
Hachee (Dutch Beef & Onion Stew) Hachee (Dutch Beef & Onion Stew)
*if you don’t have juniper berries you can use: caraway seeds, cardamom, hickory or black pepper (I used black pepper)* if you don’t have cloves you can use all spice or cinnamon (I used all spice)* if you don’t have peppercorns just use a lot of fresh ground pepper from a grinder (that’s what I used) Elyse Rose
