Today's recipe is for a side dish made with green peas & potatoes.

Matar With Spicy masala is a super delicious side dish made using green peas which tastes amazing in combination with either roti or rice. It's one of my favorite side dish. Ingredients

  1. 200 ggreen peas
  2. 3tomato
  3. 3potato
  4. 1onion
  5. 1 tbspcoconut pieces
  6. 1 tbspfennel seeds
  7. leavesCurry
  8. leavesCoriander
  9. 1/2 tspmustard
  10. 1 tspcumin seeds
  11. 1 pinchhing
  12. 1bay leaf
  13. 1star anise
  14. 1black stone flower
  15. 3cloves
  16. 2cardamom
  17. 2cinnamon
  18. 2 tbspbutter
  19. 1 tspginger garlic paste
  20. 1 pinchturmeric powder
  21. 1/2 tspKashmiri chilli powder
  22. 1/2 tspcumin powder
  23. 1/2 tspchicken masala powder
  24. 1/2 tspchaat masala powder
  25. 1/4 tspred chilli powder
  26. 1 tspGaram masala powder
  27. 1 tspkasuri methi
  28. as requiredSalt & water

Cooking Instructions

30 minutes

    Soak green peas for 8 hours. Pressure cook peas & potatoes for 4 whistles.

    Grind tomatoes, fennel seeds, coriander leaves and coconut to a fine paste.

    Add butter to a kadai. Once it melts, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, whole dry spices. Once it starts to splutter add onions & curry leaves. Saute the onions well. Next add the ginger garlic paste to it. Fry well till the raw smell goes off.

    Add the boiled peas & potatoes. Add the ground paste. Mix well. Add red chilli powder, Kashmiri chilli powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, chicken masala powder, chaat masala powder & some salt for taste.
    Mix everything well. Add required water.

    Cover & cook for 10 minutes. Finally add kasuri methi and mix. Serve hot with rice, chappathi, or poori.

    Notes:

    ¤ You can even use fresh green peas.
    ¤ Adding potatoes is optional.
    ¤ Making this dish as a gravy or dry version is upto your choice.
