Fried mackerel rice bowl or Thai cat rice, is a called Kao-Maew (Kao = rice, Maew = cat) in Thai word. It’s one of the simplest and easiest recipe, which almost every Thai people familiar with since their childhood.

Cook the rice in the rice cooker
PS. If you don’t have a rice cooker, you can cook in the pot. - 2
Fried the steamed mackerel with medium heat. Let them cool down. Remove fish head and bones. Set aside

To make a fish sauce with chili: Squeeze the limes to extract lime juice. Add fish sauce and sugar. Mix well. Add shallots and Bird’s eye chili.

In a large mixing bowl, add steamed rice, fish sauce with chili, fried mackerel. Mix well.

Serve with fresh and boiled vegetables.
In this recipe, I serve with fresh cucumber and boiled snake guard.
