Ingredients

Serves 4 servings
  • 1 cuprice (about 200 grams)
  • 1 cupgreen peas (about 150 grams)
  • 1potato
  • 2 tablespoonsoil (about 30 ml)
  • 2cloves
  • 1black cardamom pod
  • 4black peppercorns
  • 2bay leaves
  • 1 teaspooncumin seeds
  • 1 pinchasafoetida (hing), to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoongaram masala
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 cupwater (about 240 ml)
  • 1 teaspoonturmeric

Steps

  1. 1

    First, rinse the rice. Peel and chop the potato. Rinse and chop the peas and ginger as well.

    Add oil to your pressure cooker and heat it. Add cumin seeds and all the whole spices, and sauté for 1 minute.

    Add the rice, peas, and potato. Add garam masala, salt, and turmeric. Sauté for 5 minutes.

    Add water, close the pressure cooker, and cook for 2 whistles. Turn off the heat. Open the cooker and your matar pulao is ready. Serve hot.
