Combine 1 cup sugar with 1/2 cup water in a saucepan and cook until you get a sticky syrup. Set aside. In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, yogurt, baking soda, and orange food coloring. Gradually add water to make a smooth batter. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.

Poke a small hole in the cap of a plastic squeeze bottle. After 15 minutes, pour the batter into the bottle. Heat oil in a pan. Squeeze the batter into the hot oil in spiral shapes to form jalebis.

Fry the jalebis until they are crispy on both sides.

Dip the hot jalebis in the sugar syrup for a few seconds, then remove to a plate. Garnish with chopped pistachios and serve hot.
