Tea snack: Deep fried arrowroot
This recipe is inspired by my mom,I used to look forward to weekend breakfast spread because my mom would go all out and this specific snack was and still is my favourite! One bite and memories come flooding.
Steps
- 1
Wash the arrowroots and bring to a boil, leave the skin on.Cook them for 30min or less (depends on the type of arrowroot). You will know its ready when you can pierce through with a fork.
- 2
Once ready, take them out and leave to cool for about 10min and peel the skin.(Leaving the skin on helps it doesn't get soggy).
- 3
This is how they should look like after boiling.
- 4
Cut them in desired shape and size,I prefer mine in circles..of medium size. Salt at this stage.
- 5
Heat the oil to deep fry. You will know the oil is ready when you deep a wooden spoon and you see bubbles form around it.
- 6
When hot enough, carefully add the arrowroot pieces. Be careful not to overcrowd the pot. Allow them to cook for about 3min each side,or until you attain desired crunch.I love mine extra crisshhhpyyyy🤤🤤
- 7
Once ready, take them out and put them on a paper towel to drain the excess oil.
- 8
Bro,enjoy this with a cup of tea, coffee, juice or even water bro😂because these bad boys don't play when it comes to chocking you.! They also slap with smokies 💯🎯
