First, pressure cook the black chickpeas with 1 tspsalt, 1/2 tsp turmeric, 1/2 tsp oil. Cook till 8 whistles. Then cool and remove from pressure cooker.

Then heat a pan. Add coconut oil. Then add the bay leaf, fennel seeds, cinnamon and saute well.

Then add onions, ginger, garlic, curry leaves and stir well. Then add tomatoes, stir well. Then add 1/4 cup water and cook covered till well cooked

Then grind this paste, removing the cinnamon and bay leaf. Again heat oil. Add the tempering ingredients. Then add the cooked chickpeas.

Add salt, turmeric powder, Chilli powder and other spices. Add the prepared masala.

Combine well and cook covered till aromatic. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Serve with hot chapati or rice. Enjoy!
