An afternoon treat, fragrant and delicious, perfect with afternoon tea and autumn leaves.
Cooking Instructions

Place milk and butter in a microwave-safe cup and microwave for 40 seconds.

Add brown sugar and stir until dissolved, then add yeast and mix well. Set aside.

Mix flour with salt and cardamom.
- 4
Pour in the yeast milk mixture and knead into a smooth dough.

Cover with plastic wrap and let it rest for 1 hour (or until it doubles in size).

Gently press out the air and roll into a rectangle, spreading the filling evenly.

Fold the top down and the bottom up to form a rectangle, seal the sides tightly, and cut into 6 equal parts. Cut each part again, leaving the top 1/4 inch uncut.

Twist each piece and form into a circle, place on a baking sheet, cover with plastic wrap, and let rest for another 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and brush the tops with beaten egg.

Sprinkle with poppy seeds.

Bake in the preheated oven for 11 minutes.

Remove from oven.

Serve.

Slightly tweaked by myself as I use brown sugar for the filling rather than granulated kind. I have also added the vanilla sugar in the dough and therefore reduced the original amount of granulated sugar which was 150g :)ronniechops
