Wash dal and rice separately and drain the water.

Now heat a pressure cooker add desi ghee cumin seeds and asafoetida then add 5 cups of water. When water comes to a boil add mung daal and rice add salt and turmeric powder and cover with the lid.

Cook until one whistle and off the flame. Now open the pressure cooker add desi ghee and serve the Khichdi with pickle.
