For Bentos and Drinking Appetizers: Hanpen Sandwiches

I wanted to think up a bento item that used hanpen.

When pan frying the hanpen sandwich, press down on it lightly with a spatula. Make sure the filling doesn't come out!
The hanpen may curl up while cooking, but if you let it cool down with the curled up side on the bottom, it will be fine.
You can also cook it in an oven on a heatproof dish. (The version in Step 6 was cooked that way.) For 1 hanpen cake worth. Recipe by Orange Day

Ingredients

1 serving
  1. 1Hanpen (large)
  2. 2 sliceSliced ham
  3. 20 gramsBroccoli
  4. 1 tbspMayonnaise
  5. 1 sliceSliced cheese (melting type)

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Slice the hanpen in half to make 2 slices.

  2. 2

Microwave the broccoli, and chop it up with the ham. Mix with mayonnaise.

  3. 3

Spread the mixture on one piece of hanpen with a spoon.

  4. 4

Put the sliced cheese on top, and cover with the other piece of hanpen.

  5. 5

Pan fry on both sides until golden brown, and it's done! (If you use a non-stick pan, you won't need any oil.)

  6. 6

Let it cool down before cutting. I cut it into 4 pieces. The version in the bento in the main photo is cut into 8.

  7. 7

It's a bother to actually weigh the broccoli, so just use the same amount as the ham. (See the photo for Step 2.)
