Peel the chow chows and dice into cubes.

Cook dal, chow chow along with salt with 1/2 cup water until soft, or if you using pressure cooker, cook for one whistle.

Heat oil in a tempering pan, splutter dals and mustard, followed by other ingredients, let the garlic colourise slightly.

Add the tempering into the boiled dal and chow chow.

That’s it. Simple, isn’t it? Pair with plain rice or paratha.
