Refreshing Che Mủ Trôm (Vietnamese Herbal Dessert Drink)

Today, I got to relive my childhood with a classic summer treat: a cool glass of mủ trôm mixed with aloe vera, malva nuts, and basil seeds! I still prefer using basil seeds over chia seeds because I want to bring back the full, authentic flavors of this refreshing dessert.
Steps
- 1
Before making this dessert, rinse the mủ trôm thoroughly and soak it overnight until fully expanded. Soak the malva nuts and basil seeds in water until they expand. Once the malva nuts have expanded, remove the outer skin and seeds. Peel the aloe vera, cut into small cubes, and rinse to remove any slime.
- 2
Bring water to a boil and quickly blanch the aloe vera cubes, then remove them. Add palm sugar to the boiling water and stir until dissolved, then add the aloe vera cubes and turn off the heat.
- 3
To serve, pour the sweet aloe vera syrup into a glass, add the malva nuts, basil seeds, mủ trôm, and a few drops of pomelo blossom extract. Serve chilled.
