Til-gur ghya ni ghod ghod bola is the greetings for Holi in Maharashtra.
Lohri ki lakh lakh Vadhiyan is how the Sindhis greet each other on Lohri.
This is a Jaipur Rajasthan style sweet
made specially during Uttarayan / Lohri .
As I live in Mumbai, Maharashtra I have made this special til-gur sweet , but the recipe is a speciality of Jaipur, Rajasthan. It is very soft & mouth melting .

Ingredients

10 - 12 minutes
Makes 15 pieces
  1. 1 cupwhite sesame seeds
  2. 1 cuppowdered gur (jaggery)
  3. 1/ 4 cup clarified butter /ghee
  4. 1/2 tspcardamom powder
  5. A fewcashews & pistachio halves for garnish

Steps

10 - 12 minutes
  1. 1

    Assemble all the ingredients.
    Take sesame seeds in a pan & dry roast for 2-3 minutes or till golden & crispy. Cool completely. Grind sesame seeds on pulse mode till coarse.

    Now add powdered gur/jaggery & grind both together on pulse mode till coarse. Grind cardamom powder also.

    Remove the mixture in a plate. Take clarified butter /ghee in a pan & melt it. Add the til-gur mixture in the pan & cook the mixture for 2 minutes

    Grease a thali/ plate with oil & spread the mixture on it. Level the mixture by pressing a 'vati' all over it so the mixture is even.

  5. 5

    Cut to the desired shape with the help of a cookie cutter. Press cashews & pistachio halves on each piece. Offer to Gods as Prasadam on Uttarayan / Lohri Day & distribute til- gur gajak to relatives & friends.
