On the auspicious day of Shivratri, I made this lovely Farali Platter recipe,which can be served as a side dish or for evening snacks. As per Hindu customs, it is believed to be auspicious to eat sweet potato on
Mahashivratri. Many types of sweet & savory sweet potato dishes are made from it & this is one of them which is not only quick but delicious too .
Also other dishes on the platter are Sabudana Vada & potato fries . One can have this Platter as a filling dinner or heavy evening snacks .

Steps

1) Wash the sweet potato & purple Yam under running water till all the dust & mud is washed off. Pressure cook both with skins in a pressure cooker.

Let the steam release from the pressure cooker.Cool a little & peel off the skins...

Cut the sweet potato & purple Yam into thick roundels. Season with salt and pepper.Keep aside.

Make a thick spicy green chutney spread in a small mixer jar,by taking everything in it & blending it well to a smooth spread.

Take the sweet potato & purple Yam roundels on a grill pan 🥘 & grill them till crispy from all sides.Take the grilled roundels on a plate. Cool a little.

Apply a little thick spread on each roundel. Garnish with salted fried peanuts Serve immediately. A healthy version of Farali snack is ready to serve.

2) Make sabudana wadas as per the recipe. Deep fry them in hot oil till golden.

3) Potato Fries : Peel & cut the potato in sticks. Wash them 2-3 times till all the starch comes out. Soak them in chilled water for 10 minutes.Deep fry till golden.Sprinkle salt & pepper on it.

Assemble. : Lay the Farsan Platter with 4 pcs of sweet Potato Coins, 2 pieces of purple Yam, 4 pcs of Sabudana Wadas & a few fries.Serve with chutney. spread.
