Potatoes make other cooked vegetables taste creamier: parsnips, apples, beets, carrots, onions, garlic and daikon. And daikon gives a horseradish flavor to mashed potatoes, a win-win situation. If you have not tried daikon puree before, here is the recipe.

In a dutch oven with lid, cut and bring to a boil, potato size slices of unpeeled daikon, then add unpeeled quartered potatoes, boil together till soft, covered, about 20 minutes. Check with fork. Pour water off. Rub peel off daikon, puree everything together, add butter, cream, pepper, salt, mash, taste, adjust spices to your taste. Serve with fresh sausages. Garnish with strong curly parsley, delicious weekday dinner, enjoy.
