Finely chop the onion. (Soak in water and then drain well.) Mix it well in a bowl with the other ingredients.

Divide into equal portions for the number of servings, shape into rounds, and coat the surface with additional breadcrumbs.

Add vegetable oil and butter to a frying pan, then add the cakes. Cook over medium heat until nicely browned, then flip. Be careful not to let them fall apart.

After flipping, reduce the heat, cover, and steam-cook for about 5 minutes until done.
