This is how my farmer father would make boiled edamame to enjoy with a cold beer in the summer evenings.

Rub the salt into the edamame before boiling.

Once the edamame are evenly coated with salt, let them sit for about 5 minutes.

Without rinsing off the salt, add the edamame directly to boiling water.

Boil for about 5 minutes, then drain in a colander. Let them cool slowly without rinsing.
