Add the water and rice to a pot and heat over medium.
*If using cold leftover rice, break up any clumps with a spoon.

Once it comes to a boil, reduce the heat slightly and simmer for a while. When the rice softens, add the dashi granules and miso, and stir to combine.

Pour in the beaten egg and stir gently. It’s ready to serve.

Depending on how you feel, you can also add green onions or whitebait (shirasu) with the egg for extra flavor.
