Easy Chirashizushi Cake

I wanted to make something that could substitute for a birthday cake.

Press down very firmly in Step 4, or the 'cake' may fall apart when you flip it over.
When you flip it over, if it won't come out easily just tug on the plastic wrap a bit and it should come out. For 2 servings. Recipe by Minaichigo

Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 1 1/2rice cooker cups' worth Sushi rice
  2. 1Flaked salmon
  3. 1as much (to taste) White sesame seeds, shiso leaves
  4. 1egg worth Usuyaki tamago (thin omelette)
  5. 1Boiled shrimp, cooked or smoked salmon, or whatever you like

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Shred the shiso leaves. Mix the sesame weed and shredded shiso in the sushi rice, using a cutting motion so you don't crush the rice.

  2. 2

Spread a piece of plastic wrap in a round container (a plastic container or a mold) and spread in half the sushi rice.

  3. 3

    Sprinkle in some flaked salmon.

  4. 4

Add the rest of the sushi rice, and press down tightly with a rice paddle.

  5. 5

Line a serving plate with some lettuce or other greens (if you have them). Invert the container of rice on top, and take the plastic wrap off.

  6. 6

Decorate the top with whatever you like. I made little flowers made out of smoked salmon, and added usuyaki tamago (thin omelette), shrimp and daikon radish sprouts.
