  • 2 packsSapporo Ichiban Shio Ramen
  • 4 1/4 cupswater (1 liter)
  • 4 slicesdeli ham
  • 2 cupsnapa cabbage (about 7 ounces or 200 grams)
  • 1 cupbean sprouts (about 3.5 ounces or 100 grams)
  • 1/3 cupgreen onion, sliced (about 1.4 ounces or 40 grams)
  • 2 tablespoonscornstarch
  • 2 tablespoonswater
  • 1egg
  • 1 tablespoontoasted sesame oil
  • Black pepper, to taste

    Use 2 packs of Sapporo Ichiban Shio Ramen.

    Cut the napa cabbage into 2-inch pieces, then slice thinly.

    Slice the ham into thin strips.

    Cut the green onion into 2-inch pieces, then slice thinly.

    Crack the egg into a bowl and beat well.

    Dissolve the cornstarch in 2 tablespoons of water and set aside.

    Rinse the bean sprouts thoroughly under running water and drain well.

    Pour 4 1/4 cups water (1 liter) into a large skillet or pot and bring to a boil over high heat. Add the ham and napa cabbage.

    When the cabbage softens, add the ramen noodles. Use chopsticks to gently separate the noodles as they cook.

    After 2 minutes, add the bean sprouts, green onion, and the soup seasoning packets from the ramen.

    After 30 seconds, pour the cornstarch mixture around the edge of the pot and stir well to thicken the soup.

    Add the beaten egg, then immediately turn off the heat. Drizzle with sesame oil and sprinkle with black pepper. Mix everything gently with chopsticks.

    Transfer to ramen bowls or plates and sprinkle with the sesame seeds included in the ramen package.
