Ingredients

Serves 2 servings
  • Sloppy Joes
  • 14 ozground meat (preferably beef, or a mix of beef and pork)
  • 2 tablespoonsolive oil
  • 1 tablespoonbutter or margarine
  • 1/2large onion
  • 1small green bell pepper
  • 3 clovesgarlic
  • 1/2 cup★ketchup (thick)
  • 2 tablespoons★Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon★chili sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon★salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon★mustard or karashi
  • 2 tablespoons★sugar (preferably brown sugar)
  • 1 teaspoon★chili powder
  • Sliced red chili pepper to taste, optional
  • 2hamburger buns
  • Potato chips (salted) to taste

Steps

  1. 1

    In a frying pan, heat olive oil and butter or margarine, and cook the ground meat until it is no longer red.

  2. 2

    Once the meat is cooked, transfer it to a plate and remove excess fat. Note: A lot of fat will come out, so it's better not to leave too much.

  3. 3

    Dice the onion and green bell pepper into small cubes, and sauté them in the remaining fat in the pan without washing it.

  4. 4

    Once the onion and bell pepper are somewhat cooked, add minced garlic and continue to sauté.

  5. 5

    Add the previously cooked ground meat to step 4 and mix well.

  6. 6

    Add all the ★ seasonings and stir well while cooking.

  7. 7

    Once thoroughly cooked, generously place the meat on the buns and serve with potato chips. For the chips, thick-cut potato chips are recommended!
