Black Glutinous Rice, Goji Berry, and Taro Cake

Black glutinous rice is nourishing, goji berries are good for your eyes, and taro is in season. Add some brown sugar, and you have a healthy, wholesome dessert!

  1. Ingredients to prepare:
  2. 1 cupblack glutinous rice (about 200 grams)
  3. 2 cupswhite rice (about 400 grams)
  4. as neededGoji berries, as needed; brown sugar,
  5. 1 splashrice wine

    Rinse the black glutinous rice and white rice. Soak the goji berries briefly, then remove and set aside. Use the goji berry soaking water to cook the rice. For 3 cups of rice, use 3 1/2 cups water.

    Steam the taro until soft, then mash it with granulated sugar to make a paste. Set aside the goji berries.

    Once the rice is cooked, add brown sugar to taste, the soaked goji berries, and a splash of rice wine. Mix well.

    Lightly oil a glass storage container. Press in a layer of the prepared black glutinous rice, then spread the taro paste on top, and finish with another layer of black glutinous rice. Let cool, then cut into pieces. (Alternatively, you can shape the mixture into balls if you prefer.)
