Ingredients

Prep time -10 mins, Cooking time -45 mins
3-4 servings
  1. 1 cupGreen Moong Dal
  2. 1/2 cupbottle gourd washed, peeled, cubed
  3. 1 tspturmeric powder
  4. 1/8 tspsalt
  5. Cooking Dal
  6. 1 tspturmeric powder
  7. 1 tspcumin powder
  8. 1 tspred chilli powder
  9. 1medium size tomato chopped
  10. 1medium size onion chopped
  11. 2-3green chillies
  12. 1bay leaf
  13. 2-3whole big red chillies
  14. 1/4 tspcumin seeds
  15. 1/8 tspsalt
  16. 1 Tbspoil

Cooking Instructions

Prep time -10 mins, Cooking time -45 mins

    Soak Green moong dal for 1 hr, drain and add to pressure cooker.

    Add water to pressure cooker, cubed bottle gourd, turmeric powder, bay leaf, salt and pressure cook for 3 whistles on high flame

    Dal is cooked

    In a wok heat oil, add bay leaf, whole red chillies, cumin seeds, stir

  5. 5

    Add chopped onion, on medium flame stir for 3 mins to soften, add chopped tomatoes and stir.

  6. 6

    Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, salt and stir well, add cooked dal and stir.

  7. 7

    Cover to cook for 2 mins, add garam masala powder.

  8. 8

    Serve with steamed rice
