Ingredients

6-8 servings
  1. For Fish Marination:
  2. 750 gcod fish
  3. 4tblsp lemon juice
  4. 1/2 tspsalt
  5. 1tblsp garlic paste
  6. For Biryani
  7. 750 gbasmati rice (boiled with 3 tblsp of salt)
  8. 2onions medium sized (thinly sliced)
  9. 2large tomatoes (sliced)
  10. 1/2 cupyogurt
  11. 1tblsp ginger paste
  12. 1& 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  13. 1 tspgaram masala powder
  14. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  15. 1& 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  16. 1& 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
  17. yellow n red food colour as required
  18. 1& 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  19. 2bay leaves
  20. 1/2 cupoil
  21. 3fresh green chilli (sliced)
  22. Handfulfresh coriander leaves
  23. leavesFew fresh mint
  24. Fresh tomatoe sliced
  25. slicesSome lemon
  26. 6-7dried plums (optional)

Steps

  1. 1

    Marinate the fish with lemon juice, salt, and garlic paste cover and leave for 15 minutes.then wash the fish and keep in a sieve to drain the water.

    heat oil add onions fry till gets light golden, add ginger paste and fry few seconds, on low flame.

    Then add tomatoes, cumin seed, bay leaves, garam masala powder, salt, red chilli, coriander powder, turmeric cook for 5-6 minutes. Add water 1/2 cup and cook till the oil comes on surface on low to medium flame.

    Now add the yogurt and cook till the oil comes on surface, on low to medium flame.

    Now add the yogurt and cook till the oil comes on surface, on low to medium flame.

    Add the fish pieces, do not mix it only pick the pot and move it in a rotating motion, cover and cook for 5 minutes.

    Add fresh coriander, green chillies, mint leaves mix and cook on high flame till the oil again comes on surface.

    #For_Assembling_the_Biryani:

    In a large pan add half of the boiled rice, top with all fish masala with fish pieces then add the leftover rice and sprinkles some food colour, dried plums, lemon and tomato slices cover the lid with a tea towel and simmer it for 7-8 minutes.
    Serve hot and enjoy.

    #Tip:

    For the best results In this recipe use any meaty and thick white fish.

    If you same like me mix a food colouring with water in two separate bowls add 2 tblsps cooked rice mix strain and add top of your rice and steam.
