Gujarati Daal is varied side dish. Every home and home shef is having their own secret ingredient. But I personally feel that secret ingredient in gujarati daal is a clove. It will change whole smell of daal. I'm saying this because I have cooked daal with and without clove. It is the secret 😄

Gujarati Daal is varied side dish. Every home and home shef is having their own secret ingredient. But I personally feel that secret ingredient in gujarati daal is a clove. It will change whole smell of daal. I'm saying this because I have cooked daal with and without clove. It is the secret 😄

Soak the toor daal for 30 minutes. Wash it thoroughly. Add chopped pumpkin and tomato

Add turmeric, oil and salt. Give 4 to 5 whistles. Once it is cool, open the lid and churn daal. Add jaggery.

Add red chilli powder and coriander powder. Add peanuts and let it boil. Meanwhile to prepare seasoning, take a pan. Add oil. Once oil is hot, add mustard, Fenugreek seeds, cinnamon,clove and curry leaves.

Pour it into the daal. Let it boil for some more time. Serve hot and rice and ghee.

Tip - I didn't add Asafoetida in Seasoning as I serve this daal as a part of prasad. You can add if you like it. I also didn't use fresh coriander leaves as I was not having any.
