Sautéed King Oyster Mushrooms with Butter, Garlic & Soy Sauce

Have you seen the very large and thick Asian Mushrooms at green grocer? They are called King Oyster Mushrooms in Melbourne where I live, but you might be familiar with other names such as ‘Eryngii’. King Oyster Mushrooms don’t have particular strong flavour, but the texture is unique. This is my favourite way to cook them. This dish is great for drinking.

Cut King Oyster Mushrooms in half and cut each piece into 5-6mm thick slices.

Heat Butter and Garlic in a frying pan over medium heat, cook King Oyster Mushrooms until both sides are nicely browned.

Add Salt, toss and stir, then remove from heat. Sprinkle with Soy Sauce and toss and stir to combine. Add some ground Black Pepper OR Shichimi (Japanese Chilli Spice Mix), and enjoy.
