Sundaikkai paruppu usili

We have a big sundaikkai plant at our house in MeSundaikkaienambakkam. Mom used to make sambar, Paruppu usili, and vathal kulambu. Sundaikkai is rich in iron, which increases red blood cells; prevents anemia. I made puruppu usili in our home during my last visit to Chennai. #CA2026 #sundaikkai

Soak the toor dal in 4c water for 10 minutes.. Drain and grind them coarsely. with red chilies, coriander seeds and ginger Put them in a bowl and steam them. You can also steam them in an idli plate. I cooked the dal on a microwave safe plate in the microwave for 10 minutes. After cooling, powder the cooked dal with your hands.

Crush the sundaikkai berries a little with a pestle in a mortar. and put them in a bowl and add water. My mother used to crush them with a pestle. I crushed them with a chapati rolling pin.
