Stale Bread with Eggs, Milk, Chocolate, and Cinnamon

A delicious snack made with stale bread, baked in the oven. It's easy to prepare and lighter than the fried version. I chose to add dark chocolate and cinnamon, but you can customize it to your taste. Serve it with orange marmalade!

A delicious snack made with stale bread, baked in the oven. It's easy to prepare and lighter than the fried version. I chose to add dark chocolate and cinnamon, but you can customize it to your taste. Serve it with orange marmalade!
Steps
- 1
Pour the milk into a bowl and add the bread cut into pieces. Let it soak for at least 15 minutes. Add more milk if needed, a little at a time, but don't overdo it. In a separate bowl, beat the egg with a pinch of salt.
- 2
Add the egg to the soaked bread along with any remaining milk. Mix well, then transfer everything to a baking dish lined with parchment paper. Add the roughly chopped chocolate and sprinkle with granulated sugar. The sugar will create a nice crust as it bakes. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for at least 15 minutes, until golden and caramelized.
- 3
Remove from the oven and sprinkle with cinnamon. Serve with orange marmalade.
