Cream together butter and sugar powder till fluffy.

Add the egg and vanilla essence and beat in.

Add the flour in 2 or 3 batches & mix in.if the dough is soft refrigerate for 10-20 minutes.

Meanwhile in a zip lock/plastic bag,put the sugar granules & add the color and mix it with your hand from the outside of the plastic bag. Add the cornflour 1/2 tsp at a time and mix in till the sugar is grainy.

Make medium balls with the dough & flatten it.dip one side with the colored sugar and place it on a parchment paper.Make a well in the middle with your thumb.fill in with 1/2 tsp jam.

Bake in a preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until the bottom side of the cookies just browns.
