Sambar is a very common side dish in our diets and is used widely for all occasions. Making a mouth watering sambar needs a special art. I always add some leaves like spinach or the leaves of Ivy gourd or Koval for making the sambar more rich in taste.I Ialso use my own home- made sambar powder for making it really delicious

Ingredients

  1. 1 cupdhal
  2. vggies claned and cut tp pieces
  3. 3 cupscucumber brinjal potato snake gourd ,,(colocasia),,drumstic
  4. 1/2 cupSpinach (sambar cheera or Koval leaf)
  5. 2 Nossavala
  6. 2 tbspsonions small
  7. 2 nostomato
  8. for sambar powder
  9. 3 tspskashmiri chilli powder
  10. 5 tspscorriander powder
  11. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  12. 1 tspasafoetida powder
  13. 1/4 tspfenugreek powder
  14. 3 sprigscurry leaves
  15. to tastesalt
  16. 1 tsptamarind solution
  17. mustard oil and for sauteing

Cooking Instructions

    Cook the dhal with 3 cups of water with the small onions and keep aside.

    The vegetables preferably shown above,cleaned and diced to pieces are mixed with the cooked dhal.Now add the sambar powder shown above,savala,required amount of salt and water and it is cooked.When the vegetables are almost cooked soft, add the diced tomatoes, the tamarind extract,spinch cut to very small pieces. Boil again.Mix everything.Add more salt if required and curry leaves..Take out from the stove

    Now splutter the mustard seeds followed by some onions,curry leaves and one green chilly. or dry red chilly. Mix it with the prepared sambar. The yummy sambar with mouth watering aroma is ready. This is a most healthy curry with high fibre...

    You can also add corriander leaves if you can enjoy the taste of the leaf.
