Ingredients

8 servings
  1. pie filling
  2. 8 ozchopped cooked meat
  3. 1/4 cupsuet
  4. 1/2 cupraisins
  5. 1/2 cupdried currants or red currant jelly
  6. 1/2 cupcandied citron
  7. 1 pintspared apples
  8. 1 cupapple juice or apple cider
  9. 1 mediumlemon , the juice and zest I used a Meyer lemon
  10. 1 cupbrown sugar, packed
  11. 1 tspsalt
  12. 1 tspground cinnamon
  13. 1 tspallspice
  14. 1 tbsppeach pickle juice
  15. crust
  16. 2nine inch pie crust

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Cook the meat till done I cook this in the suet

    In a saucepan add all ingredients except crust and peach pickle juice

  3. 3

    Cook slowly for 1 1/4 hours stirring frequently then add peach pickle juice

    Bake the bottom crust 30-35 minutes add filling cover with the other pie crust bake till top crust is done make sure to put steam vent holes in top of crust

    Mine cooked in oven 6 inches off bottom of oven for 25 minutes
