Ingredients

  • for the rasam:
  • 9-10medium size red tomato
  • 1-2 cupswater
  • as requiredsalt
  • for the spice herb mixture
  • half cup coriander stems with or without leaves
  • 1 inchginger
  • 8-9garlic
  • 10-12black pepper
  • 1 tbspcumin seeds
  • for the tempering:
  • 2 tbspoil
  • 2-3 sprigcurry leaves
  • 1 pinchhing
  • 1 tspmustard seeds
  • 1 tspudad dal
  • 1-2dry red chillies
  • half tsp haldi

Steps

  1. 1

    Steam the tomatoes.
    once they cool, chop them and blend to a smooth puree.
    Uper diye masale ko crush karein spice hub vale masale ko crush krna hai

  2. 2

    Tomato rasam:
    heat oil and fry the mustard seeds. when they start to crackle add the urad dal.

  3. 3

    Fry the urad dal till light brown and then add all the other tempering ingredients, except turmeric powder.
    fry for a minute. add the coarse herb and spice paste. add turmeric powder and fry

  4. 4

    Now add the tomato puree. add the water and salt.
    Boil for 10 minutes
    garnish tomato rasam with coriander leaves.
    serve tomato rasam hot with rice.
