It's something we ate on a lazy day. Mix, dump in, cook and eat. Could not be simpler! You can add anything else you want - potatoes, button mushrooms, carrots, peas, etc. Traditionally, I think this calls for french fries or oven-baked potatoes. Go for it if that's what you want. Simple Sloppy Joe Toppings on Toast (sandwich)

Ingredients

40 minutes
3 servings
  1. 1 tbspcooking/olive oil
  2. beef/chicken mince (approximately 750g)
  3. 3 clovesgarlic, minced
  4. 1large onion, chopped finely
  5. 1 stalkcelery, chopped finely
  6. 1bell pepper/capsicum, chopped finely
  7. [Sauce]
  8. 2 tbspmild (American) mustard, other types OK too
  9. 1.5 tbspapple cider vinegar
  10. 1 cuptomato sauce
  11. to tastesalt, sugar, pepper
  12. [To Cook]
  13. 1/2 cupgrated cheddar cheese
  14. 2 sprigsspring onion, chopped finely
  15. [To Serve]
  16. 2small fresh tomatoes, sliced
  17. Buttered toast

Cooking Instructions

40 minutes
  1. 1

    HEAT oil in pot (slow cooker) and ADD onion and garlic. Cook until slightly fragrant, approximately 1 minute

  2. 2

    In a large bowl, MIX all sauces, salt, sugar, pepper to taste

  3. 3

    ADD mince into the mix, then TOPPED with celery, bell pepper and sauces; cook (in slow cooker) for approximately 45 minutes on fast cook on the cooker; over stove, 15 to 20 minutes will do

    10 minutes before finishing, add cheddar cheese and spring onions, stir

  5. 5

    Serve with toast, freshly sliced tomatoes, scrambled eggs, sunny side ups, sausages, bacon or anything else you have with you
