Pork in Shrimp Paste (Filipino Binagoongan) - Pork with Bagoong Pork in Shrimp Paste (Filipino Binagoongan) - Pork with Bagoong
I've tasted many versions of this dish. Some too salty, some cooked with vinegar or coconut cream, and some without a hint of those. I found that the best tasting dishes are those well balanced- sweet, sour, and salty like a true Asian dish. SpottedByD -
Crispy binagoongan Crispy binagoongan
One of my first posts was a binagoongan recipe which featured pork chops. This one uses most of the same ingredients, but swaps out the chops for pork shoulder. I guess that makes this binagoongan 2.0. The pork shoulder is braised until beautifully tender, then fried until crisp, resulting in a really nice textural component. Robert Gonzal -
Pork Monggo Pork Monggo
A budget-friendly dish as it does not require a lot of ingredients. You can also remove the pork and just use dried or smoked fish, like dilis/anchovies, or tinapa to stretch your budget even more. That's why a lot of Filipino moms (or dads) have this on the menu during Fridays or later part of the week. And if you don't include pork (which can also be replaced by chicken), you can also serve this during the Holy Week. Missus C -
Pork rib sinigang Pork rib sinigang
Sinigang (tamarind soup) is one of the better known Filipino dishes. I always made mine with beef short ribs, braised for hours, which I thought were the ultimate in luxury. But then I tried making it with baby backs, and now stand corrected. These are every bit as decadent and satisfying, and don't take nearly as long to cook. Robert Gonzal
