
Hot Mushroom Cabbage

When I was a kid growing up, I never liked cooked cabbage as a side dish. It wasn't until I was in my late teens or early 20's that my mother made this dish. I was skeptical -- after all it was" cooked cabbage". One bite and I was hooked! It was like a party in my mouth! Forget the rest of the meal, I'll just have the Hot Mushroom Cabbage........

Saute' bacon in skillet. Crumble and set aside.

Drain all but 2 Tablespoons of bacon fat from skillet. Add butter to skillet and melt.

Saute' mushrooms and onion for 5 minutes.

Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boiling point. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 7 minutes or until cabbage is crisp-tender.

Serve with crumbled bacon.
