Ingredients

  1. 2 cupheavy cream
  2. 2eggs
  3. 1juce of 1 lemon
  4. 1/4 cuphot sause
  5. 2 tbspgarlic powder
  6. 1 tbsponion powder
  7. 1/2 cupchoped herbs, like parshley, chives or dill
  8. 1Butter, for greasing baking dish
  9. 4 mediumsweet potatoes, peeled and sliced 1/8-inch thick
  10. 1 largeonion, thinly sliced, 1/8-inch thick
  11. 1/2 cupparmesan cheese, plus additional for sprinkling
  12. 1/2 cupcheddar cheese
  13. 1 cupsharp cheddar cheese, to top

    Pre-heat the oven to 375°F.

  2. 2

    Whisk together the cream, eggs, lemon juice, hot sauce, garlic and onion powders, salt, pepper and herbs.

    Grease the bottom of a baking dish with butter.

  4. 4

    Arrange an even layer of sweet potatoes on the bottom of the dish; top with a third of the onion, a third of the parm and a third of the cheddar. Repeat the procedure two more times, finishing with cheddar cheese.

  5. 5

    Pour the cream mixture over the top and push the potatoes down to allow the cream mixture to be absorbed.

  6. 6

    Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 1 hour and 20 minutes, until the cream is absorbed and the top is brown. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
