Ingredients

  1. 1/2 kgchicken breast, sliced in half length wise
  2. 1water, enough to cover the chicken in the pot.
  3. 1 stickcinnamon
  4. 4 eachcloves
  5. 1 tspblack pepper
  6. 3 eachbay leaves
  7. 1boullion chicken cube
  8. 2 pinchsalt
  9. 3 mediumpotatoes, cubed
  10. 2 canchickpeas
  11. 1 largeonion, cut in half and sliced

Steps

  1. 1

    Add water and spices to pot. Bring to a boil.

  2. 2

    Add chicken breasts and cook until chicken is tender. Check after 30 min.

  3. 3

    Take out the cinnamon stick, cloves, bay leaves and discard.

  4. 4

    Take out chicken and chop into bite size pieces or shred.

  5. 5

    Add onions and chicken back into broth and simmer for 10 min.

  6. 6

    Add potatoes and chickpeas and simmer until potatoes are fork tender.

  7. 7

    If you like it a bit thicker, you may add a slurry of cornstarch and water. Keep in mind this should not be too thick.

  8. 8

    Serve with some basmati rice. Enjoy.
