Preheat oven 350°f

Cube bread, put in large bowl and set aside

Beat eggs, milk, half and half, sugar, salt, and vanilla together. Pour over bread, and let sit 5-10 minutes

In another bowl combine, with a fork, butter, brown sugar, and pecans. Will be like wet sand when done.

Pour half of the bread mixture into 8x8 pan

Top with half of the pecan mixture

Spoon remaining bread mixture over and top with remaining pecan mixture. Press into pan slightly. Pan will be really full

Place on pan on cookie sheet (with raised edges) in case of boil over. Bake for 45-55 minutes. Center will be slightly wiggly but will set as it cools.
