Preheat oven to 350°, prepare lightly greased 8 x 8 pan or a double recipe 9 x 13 pan.

Over low heat, about 3 on electric stove, melt butter, then add chocolate, stir till smooth. remove from heat. Tip: I like to use butter at room temperature or just slice it to melt it easier.

Lightly beat egg and vanilla together. Add a couple spoonfulls of the choc mixture one at a time, stirring as you go. This will warm up the egg mixture to make it more the temperature of the choc. TIP: Don't let the butter and choc get too hot. You don't want it to cook the eggs.

Add the eggs to the choc, mix well.

Add flour, mix till smooth.

Poor prepared brownie mixture into prepared pan, bake 20 minutes. They will be more done around the edges with a perfect brownie fudge-like texture in the middle. Bake an addition 5 minutes for more cake-like texture
