Ingredients

  • 1/4 cupButter or shortening
  • 1/2 cupSugar
  • 1Egg
  • 1 cupFlour
  • 1 tspBaking powder
  • 1/4 tspSalt
  • 1/2 cupMilk
  • 1 1/2 cupCranberry halves
  • brown sugar sauce
  • 1 cupBrown sugar
  • 2 tbspFlour
  • 1/2 tspSalt
  • 1 cupWater
  • 1 tbspButter
  • 1 tspVanilla

Steps

  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 350 and grease a 9-inch cake pan.

  2. 2

    Cream butter and sugar

  3. 3

    Add egg and blend

  4. 4

    Sift together dry ingredients and add alternately with milk.

  5. 5

    Bake 35-40 minutes and serve with sauce.

  6. 6

    For sauce: combine all but vanilla and cook until it thickens, stirring constantly, then add vanilla and serve warm over cake.
