To make sugar syrup: mix together water and sugar in a pot

Boil the syrup until it turns slightly sticky, add cardamom powder and switch off the flame

To make gulab jamuns: mix together khoya, paneer, flour and soda and make a soft dough (if required sprinkle some water)

Now make equal sized balls from the dough

Heat oil in a kadai

When the oil is just medium hot, add the balls and fry on medium flame until brown
- 7
Keep stirring gently to fry them uniformly
- 8
Now remove the balls from oil and add them to the prepared syrup
- 9
Allow them to rest for 1 hour then serve
