Ingredients

  • 1 lbground beef
  • 1/2 cupchopped onion
  • 3 cupspaghetti sauce (about 26 oz jar)
  • 12 ozMafalda pasta (1 package)
  • 3 3/4 cupricotta cheese (2 lb)
  • 1egg
  • 1 tbspdried parsley flakes (1/4 cup fresh)
  • 1/2 tspground black pepper
  • 1/2 tspsalt
  • 2 cupshredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1Grated parmigiana cheese (optional)

Steps

    Preheat oven to 375º F

  2. 2

    Cook pasta according to package directions

  3. 3

    In large skillet, cook meat and onion until meat browns; drain

  4. 4

    Stir in spaghetti sauce, heat to boiling

  5. 5

    Reduce heat to low and allow to simmer 5 minutes

  6. 6

    In large bowl, stir together ricotta cheese, egg, parsley, pepper and salt

  7. 7

    In 13x9 baking dish, spread 1 cup meat sauce; evenly layer half of the pasta over sauce

  8. 8

    Spread ricotta cheese mixture over pasta; sprinkle with 1 cup of mozzarella cheese

  9. 9

    Repeat layers of meat sauce and pasta

  10. 10

    Spread remaining meat sauce over pasta, covering pasta completely

  11. 11

    Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella cheese

  12. 12

    Sprinkle with parmigiana cheese, if desired

  13. 13

    Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes

  14. 14

    Remove foil and bake 5 additional minutes or until hot and bubbly
