Ingredients

20 minutes
  1. 1 cupfine rice flour (about 160 grams)
  2. 1 1/2 cupssugar (about 300 grams)
  3. 9 cupswater (about 2.1 liters)
  4. 1 tablespoonground caraway
  5. 1 teaspoonground cinnamon
  6. 1 1/2 teaspoonsground anise
  7. 1/4 teaspoonground fennel seed
  8. For garnish:
  9. 1 cupshredded coconut (about 80 grams)
  10. 1 cupraw almonds and walnuts (about 140 grams total)
  11. 3/4 cupraw pine nuts (about 90 grams)

Steps

  1. 1

    In a pot, combine the fine rice flour and water. Let the mixture sit until the rice flour dissolves completely, about 2 hours.

  2. 2

    Once the rice flour has dissolved, place the pot over high heat and stir continuously with a wooden spoon.

  3. 3

    Add the sugar and spices while stirring constantly until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat.

  4. 4

    Pour the meghli into small serving cups and let cool completely, then refrigerate.

  5. 5

    When ready to serve, top each cup with a layer of shredded coconut, pine nuts, almonds, and walnuts.
