  3. 1small potato
  4. 1small onion

  7. Pinchsalt
  8. Pinchcumin
  9. 1 tablespoonvermicelli pasta
  10. 1 tablespoonbutter

    First, sort through the lentils to remove any debris, then rinse and drain them. Place the lentils in a pot and cover with boiling water until the pot is half full. Cook over medium heat.

    Wash and dice the vegetables, then add them to the lentils. Let everything cook together until all the ingredients are tender. Allow the mixture to cool.

    Blend the soup using an immersion blender if you have one, or use a regular blender. Return the blended soup to the pot.

    In a skillet, sauté 2 garlic cloves with 1 tablespoon of butter and the vermicelli pasta until the pasta is golden brown. Add this mixture to the soup. Return the soup to the heat and cook until the vermicelli is done, stirring occasionally. Add salt and cumin, let it simmer for a couple of minutes, then serve.
