Upside-Down Apple Cake

My favorite fruit is the apple, and I love making all sorts of things with it. I really love apple pies and have tried many recipes! But this is the one I make most often because it's quick and absolutely delicious! The recipe is from a cookbook by Chrysa Paradisi. Dedicated to Saucypan!

My favorite fruit is the apple, and I love making all sorts of things with it. I really love apple pies and have tried many recipes! But this is the one I make most often because it's quick and absolutely delicious! The recipe is from a cookbook by Chrysa Paradisi. Dedicated to Saucypan!
Steps
- 1
Use a round baking pan about 12 inches (30 cm) in diameter. Line the pan with parchment paper, letting it come up the sides a bit.
- 2
Add the butter for the pan and place it on the stovetop over very low heat just until melted. Spread the butter evenly over the bottom. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon on top.
- 3
Peel the apples, cut each into eight slices, and arrange them evenly in the pan. If you like, sprinkle a few raisins on top.
- 4
In a bowl, beat the sugar with the butter or olive oil. Add the egg, milk, baking powder, vanilla, and finally the flour.
- 5
Spoon the batter over the apples and spread it evenly.
- 6
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 45 minutes.
- 7
Remove from the oven and invert onto a serving platter along with the parchment paper.
- 8
Carefully remove the parchment paper, and your dessert is ready!
