Ingredients

  • 4potatoes
  • 2green chilies
  • 1 tablespoonsalt
  • 1/2 tablespoonred chili powder
  • 1/2 tablespoonturmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoonpomegranate seed powder
  • 1/2 tablespoongaram masala
  • 1/2 tablespoonwhole coriander seeds
  • 2 tablespoonsoil
  • chopped cilantro
  • 1 teaspoonsalt (for batter)
  • 1 pinchbaking soda (for batter)
  • 1 bowlchickpea flour (about 1 cup/120 grams)
  • oil for frying

Steps

    Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, then add chopped green chilies and mashed potatoes.

  2. 2

    Add all the spices one by one, mixing well.

  3. 3

    Finally, add chopped cilantro and mix.

  4. 4

    In a separate bowl, mix salt into the chickpea flour and whisk well to make a smooth batter. Set aside for half an hour.

  5. 5

    Shape the prepared potato mixture into small balls.

  6. 6

    Heat oil in a deep pan. Add a pinch of baking soda to the chickpea flour batter and whisk well.

  7. 7

    Coat each potato ball in the batter and fry on medium heat until golden brown.

  8. 8

    Serve hot.

    Tip: You can also add green peas or paneer to the potato mixture if you like.
