Line a large gastro tray with grease proof paper, spread toffee sauce evenly over base. Freeze for 1 hour

Place water on to boil. Chop dates ensuring no stones are left, place in bowl with bicarbonate of soda. Pour boiling water over dates. Cover bowl with cling film. Set aside

Place all other ingredients in a large mixing bowl & whisk together. Add softened dates, including all the water. Pour onto toffee sauce.

Cook in the oven for about 1 hour @200°c
